Shiok feels a little dated, like a window into a bygone Singapore. The wall is painted a dark purple colour, and the decorations are lavish. I do really like the oil paintings of blooming flowers at the back. I ate the Hainan chicken, and it was good: most pieces had a nice texture, and it was quite tender. The sauces were good. I felt that the coconut flavour in the coconut rice was somewhat subdued, and the soup was definitely watery. The prices were reasonable.

Service is good, food is mediocre and price is decent, though the portion is slightly smaller than expected. We ordered 3 dishes from their lunch special - nasi goreng (friend rice), mee goreng (stir fried noodles) and randeng beef w/ coconut rice. Nasi goreng is good, I do not recommend mee goreng however, it has a sour taste to it. The randeng beef is decent, sauce and the coconut rice are great, but the beef is too "tough" to chew thru. Overall I'll give it 3.5, so I round it up

It's always nice when you try flavors you've never experienced before. This was definitely one such time, and it was both delicious and mind-blowing. Everything was amazing, and the service was very nice. The ambiance was calm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal. The standout dishes for me were the 5 spice rolls and the laksa. Both were incredibly flavorful and unique. The pricing was reasonable, especially considering the opportunity to try something new and exciting. I loved this place and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore new flavors.
